Eight LDI Construction Plan Rooms Now Open in Georgia FREE Membership for GC’s and Sub-Contractors

LDI Reproprinting Centers now  eight, digitally-networked Plan Rooms in Georgia. Access is free to any qualified industry professional; there are no membership dues or other access fees. All jobs placed on file with any LDI location by architects, General Contractors and government agencies are for review in hard-copy format at all LDI locations. Plans are sent to each location using LDI’s Digital Courier Service and then bond copies are printed for the Plan Room. Plan Room users can review plan sets and then order prints “while-you-wait.” Immediate printing service is made possible by LDI’s digital print-on-demand technology.

“You might say that Plan Rooms are an idea whose time has come back,” according to Ralph Blanchard, President of Large Document Imaging, Inc., franchisor of LDI Reproprinting Centers. “Despite all of the digital technology LDI has deployed to improve our service, our customers still want hard copy to bid and build. That won’t change anytime soon. With the most locations of any large format printer in Georgia, LDI’s Plan Rooms offer tremendous convenience to overworked contractors and suppliers. And the cost to our customers….zero….makes this a great value in the marketplace.”

LDI needs only one set of plans and specifications to supply all eight Plan Rooms. These documents are converted into digital files for distribution and printing, and the original set of plans and specs are then returned to the architect, GC or government agency. “There is no longer any need for an architect to donate a set of plans at his or her expense just to get plan room exposure for a project,” explains Steve Morrison, an LDI franchisee in Atlanta. “Every set of plans we get can be returned in mint condition to be used by the architect for some other purpose. This represents real savings right there while at the same time assuring plan availability at eight Georgia LDI locations.

Jeff Hopper, an LDI franchise owner who has two locations in Gwinnett County, points out that information about the plans in the LDI Plan Rooms is updated every 24 hours by means of the LDI-Line On-Line.©  “A subscription to the LDI-Line On-Line delivered daily by e-mail is a great convenience for contractors and suppliers because it keeps them current on any plan sets in the LDI Plan Room network. And best of all, the subscription is FREE."

Larry Sharkey, LDI’s franchise operator in the North Fulton/Forsyth area indicates that Plan Room activity is already brisk. “We didn’t even have time to get the sign up before customers wanted to use the service. Customers up and down the GA-400 corridor are telling me they really appreciate not having to drive all over the metro area just to look at hard copy. They simply don’t have time.”

Tommy Brown, LDI franchisee in the DeKalb and Rockdale County areas, is one of the LDI locations that offers a Laptop Workstation for customers who carry computers with them during the day. “We cater to the retail customer who needs to use Plan Room services, wants to check e-mail or upload some notes to the office, wants to make a couple of quick phone calls to check with subs or suppliers and who could use a hot cup of coffee while they wait for their prints. The LDI Plan Room network is very user-friendly.”
